Porcelain veneers

Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made shells bonded to the front of your teeth to enhance the beauty of your smile. The process creates a beautiful smile with minimal discomfort (in many cases anesthesia is not required). Porcelain veneers can replace stained or discolored teeth as well as small gaps or crooked teeth.


Custom-made porcelain veneers can be used for one tooth or many to create an entire smile makeover. Our dentists may recommend dental veneers if you would like to improve the appearance of your smile.


Porcelain Veneers are often used to:

  • Close large gaps between teeth
  • Whiten teeth that are stained or discolored
  • Improve the appearance of irregularly shaped teeth
  • Restore teeth that are broken, chipped, worn or fractured

PORCELAIN VENEERS WHAT TO EXPECT

The entire process usually takes 2-3 visits over 2-3 weeks.


Preparation – After your consultation and exam your dentist will prepare the tooth or teeth for the porcelain veneers. A small amount of enamel, about one half of a millimeter, will be removed to allow the Porcelain Veneers to fit properly. Your doctor will take an impression of your smile and send it to a trusted dental lab. This model of your teeth be used to create the porcelain veneers.


Provisional Dental Veneers – Since it takes 2-3 weeks for your custom Porcelain Veneers to be created your dentist will often create and apply temporary veneers until the permanent ones are ready.


Final Fit and Bonding – We will remove the temporary veneers placed at the last visit, then try on your custom Porcelain Veneers and check for fit, color, and shape. Our doctors will make any adjusts needed before permanently bonding the Veneers to your teeth and revitalizing your smile! Because of the comprehensive planning up front, the final visit is relatively short and predicable.


Follow-up Care – Routine dental cleanings and examinations are important to ensure the longevity of your Veneers.

Yes! Porcelain Veneers are highly resistant to stains from food, beverages, and tobacco.
